- YOGA RESUMING this Saturday morning 18 Jan 9:30 at the hall
- THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS – there was an amazing turnout at the hall to load donated goods onto the container. From Matt Fanning: “To all those people who turned up to help backload the stores today I pass my heartfelt thanks. Conditions were not the best but community spirit saw it through”.
- For anyone who left eskies, fridges and large blue tarps in the hall , please collect these items now. Contact Robyn Ralph on 0417892292 or 44561 454 for access to the hall, or drop in at 2pm on Thursday.
- FREE COUNSELLING SERVICES – Gary Thomas (registered psychologist) has very kindly offered to provide counselling services and advice free of charge. Gary is available from Sat 18 Jan until Sat 25 Jan, 0404 838 331
- GREEN WASTE – Mayor Findlay has advised that green waste fees will continue to be waived until the end of January. Tip opening hours are Sat, Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri 1-5pm (applies until 31 Jan 2020).
- DONATIONS – Scroll down for information on fund raising for a critical response kit for the Red Head Villages.
- COMMUNITY EVENT – Saturday 18 January, from 5pm. Come along to Washerwomans beach to relax, chat with friends and enjoy a summer’s evening. We could all do with some R&R. BYO everything.

Below are the daily situation reports provided during the crisis management and early recovery period.
Wednesday 8 January 2020
Return of gas bottles and eskys
Gas bottles were provided on loan and need to be returned.
Eskys that were dropped at the hall can now be collected.

Tuesday 7 January 2020 – pm
As of this afternoon, power has been restored. The sewage plant is also operational, functioning at holiday capacity. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
The tip is open for normal holiday trading: Wednesday and Friday (1-5pm) and Saturday and Sunday. Dumping of green waste is free for the time being.
The local community is now working with council to redistribute goods from the hall.

Manyana Hall will be open until 1pm Tuesday January 7; Generator will run until 6pm for people to charge devices. No further community meetings scheduled at this stage.
Fire situation
Stay away from burned bushland; there is significant risk that trees and tree limbs may fall.
Keep watch for embers on your and neighbours’ property; if you are unable to extinguish them safely, call 000.
Road access
Access to Bendalong Road and the Princes Highway is possible but road conditions remain unpredictable. Ensure you have proof of residence (driver’s licence/rates notice} to show at checkpoints. Stay alert, as there are multiple crews working the road. If you intend to travel, ensure you have sufficient fuel, water and provisions. Expect delays.
Fuel and provisions
No further food/nappy/toilet roll/toiletries deliveries expected at Manyana Hall – thanks to all concerned – take what you need for two or three days. Fuel, ice and groceries are available in Milton, please consider supporting Milton IGA which has supported us. The Hub at Bendy plans to re-open in the next day or two.
A portion of North Bendalong has power restored; work is underway to replace poles and wires but it may still be several days before power is fully restored. Until then, unplug any sensitive equipment (PCs, stereos etc) to avoid surge damage when power is first restored.
Sanitation and Health
For medical issues please contact your usual doctor. Emergencies call 000. Be aware that community nurses may not able to visit local residents due to road access restrictions.
Tap water in Manyana and Cunjurong Point is safe to drink.
Maintain good hygiene to limit risk of infections – wash your hands regularly.
Keep showers brief and flush toilets only when necessary.
Avoid entering creeks and keep children clear of closed creeks in particular.
The tip may be opened for free green waste drop offs. Keep an eye on www.rhva.org.au and Manyana Matters for updates.
